What is Pacemaker?

Temporary pacemakers are used in emergencies or when the underlying cause of the abnormal heart rhythm is expected to improve. Permanent pacemakers are electronic devices that create and regulate the rhythm of the heart and deliver intracardiac shock. The battery is usually placed in the left or right upper chest area by creating a pocket under the skin. The procedure is generally performed by numbing the area where the battery will be inserted with regional local anesthesia without putting the patient to sleep.
