What is Testicular Sperm Extraction?

Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE) is an operation applied to patients who do not have sperm in their semen. Testicles are opened under local anesthesia and the sperm collected from there are used in IVF treatment. Today, the classical TESE method has been replaced by Mikro TESE which is made under the microscope. In micro-TESE operation, the testis is completely opened with a single incision and the areas that are likely to have sperm production are determined by enlarging the tissue with a microscope by 24 times. Since the sperm producing channels can be seen widely, they are easily distinguished and more successful results are obtained compared to the classical method.

Although urology is classified as a surgical specialty, internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and other specialist knowledge is required by the urologist due to the wide variety of clinical problems encountered.
